A Message From Conservancy President Peg Breen

We kickoff the holiday season with Giving Tuesday, and hope you’ll take this opportunity to support our unique programs.

This short video demonstrates how we help preserve the iconic buildings and diverse neighborhoods that define the City we love.

Your donation will help support our programs such as . . .

Advocacy – We’re fighting to close loopholes that allow developers to construct out-of-scale buildings that threaten neighborhoods. These include “voids” that artificially raise building heights, “gerrymandered” zoning lots, and buildings on stilts.

We make your voice heard on important planning and zoning issues … issues that will affect the look and feel of our city for generations;

Neighborhood Preservation – providing low-interest loans to save historic buildings in low and moderate-income neighborhoods and restoring buildings used for or converted to affordable housing and other community uses;

Emergency Grants – offering immediate assistance to safeguard historic buildings that house social service and cultural organizations. Our grants provided critical help following the devastation of Hurricane Sandy; most recently in helping to save the Staten Island home of Frederick Law Olmsted, the father of American landscape design, and designer of Central Park amongst others.
