69 Vanderbilt Ave., Brooklyn

This small, wood-frame, Greek Revival house, to the left in the image, is one of several in the Navy Hill section of Brooklyn in the blocks south of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, adjacent to the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The neighborhood also features a few grander Greek Revival homes and rowhouses in the Gothic Revival and Italianate styles. Although many of them are quite tattered, others have been restored. Collectively they illustrate how comfortable and stylish the area would have been in the boom days of the Navy Yard.
