Living Landmarks Celebration 2011
The 18th annual “Living Landmarks” gala was a star-studded event attracting some 450 people to The Plaza ballroom on November 2. Newswoman Katie Couric presented Regis Philbin with his award and Philbin responded with a poem he wrote about Couric. Award winning actress Angela Lansbury charmed the audience with her gracious acceptance.
Landmark host Liz Smith arrived with a Stetson hat and a song. She presented the awards to philanthropist Lewis Cullman, theater historian Louise Kerz Hirschfeld and restrauteur Danny Meyer.
Bill Rudin and Beth Rudin DeWoody presented the Lew Rudin Living Landmark Award for Public Service to former Mayor David Dinkins, who extolled the many contributions of Lew Rudin and the Rudin family to the City.
Living Landmarks are people who preserve the City in their own special ways. We were pleased to honor another distinguished group of New Yorkers this year in a warm and fun-filled evening.
