Living Landmarks Celebration 2008
Cipriani 42nd Street
Each year, The New York Landmarks Conservancy recognizes New Yorkers who have made outstanding contributions to the City and honors them as Living Landmarks at our fall gala.
More than 400 guests turned out on Wednesday, November 5, to join the Conservancy in celebrating the 2008 Living Landmarks Gala.
This year we were proud to honor Rosamond Bernier & John Russell*, Judy Collins, Osborn Elliot, Barbara Goldsmith, Phyllis Newman, Charles B. Rangel, and Charlie Rose. Congressman Rangel was the recipient of our Lew Rudin Award for Outstanding Public Service, named after the late New York real estate magnate and philanthropist.
Once again Living Landmark host Liz Smith presided over the festivities, aided by Peter Duchin and his orchestra.
Among the crowd were Lauren Bacall, David Patrick Columbia, Francine du Plessix Gray, Mica Ertegun, Duane Hampton, Raymond and Veronica Kelly, Dr. Mathilde Krim, Mary McFadden, Ambassador Nicholas Platt, Enid Nemy, Lynn Nesbit, Howard and Amy Rubinstein, Arnold Scaasi and Parker Ladd, Gerald Schoenfeld, Marty Segal, Jean Kennedy Smith, and Nan and Gay Talese.
