Living Landmark Baroness Mariuccia Zerilli-Marimò hosted a delightful reception for Conservancy members on Oct. 5 at the Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò. Members enjoyed cocktails and hors-d’oeuvres while touring the 19th-century brownstone, which was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1973 and currently houses NYU’s Department of Italian Studies. The Casa will be celebrating 20 years on Nov. 4. The Conservancy honored Baroness Mariuccia Zerilli-Marimò at last year’s Living Landmarks Celebration.

Among the evening’s highlights was an exclusive preview of the exhibition, “Gabriele D’annunzio: Living Life As A Work Of Art,” which will be on view until through December 15. D’Annunzio was a great Italian poet and central figure in the Italian public and political life of the early 20th century. Living Landmarks, Conservancy Board and Advisory Council members, Young Landmarks Council members and staff attended the reception.

Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò was established at New York University in 1990 by the Baroness as a tribute to her late husband Guido Zerilli-Marimò. Its mission is to promote and broaden awareness of Italian cultural contributions in the United States and to create a discourse on the many and varied influences that Italy has on American Life today.
