Chairman’s Award

Chairman’s Award 2007

Thursday, March 1
Hearst Tower

Every year, The New York Landmarks Conservancy’s Chairman’s Award recognizes business leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to the preservation and revitalization of New York City’s historic architecture.

In 2007, we proudly honored Hearst Corporation. Close to 140 guests joined us for a special luncheon at Hearst Corporation’s headquarters to honor their dedication to preservation and architectural innovation.

Hearst Corporation has long been an integral part of New York City and a vital contributor to the metropolis’ unquenchable passion for boldness and innovation. With emphasis on architectural distinction, modern technology, and sustainable design, the new Hearst headquarters tower symbolizes the very embodiment of Hearst’s pioneering tradition. Using the landmark 1928 Hearst International Magazine Building as his pedestal, noted British architect Lord Norman Foster has conceived an arresting 46-story glass-and-steel skyscraper that establishes a number of design and environmental milestones. Hearst Tower is a true pioneer in environmental sustainability, having been declared the first “green” office building in New York City history.
