Chairman’s Award

Chairman’s Award 2006

September 13
University Club

The New York Landmarks Conservancy’s Chairman’s Award recognizes business leaders who have demonstrated a commitment to the preservation and revitalization of New York’s buildings and neighborhoods.

This year, we proudly honored Donald Oresman.

More than 125 guests attended a luncheon at the University Club on September 13 to honor Oresman’s dedication to preservation.

Donald Oresman was one of the Conservancy’s first board members and remained one of its most influential during his 26-year tenure. He was the Conservancy’s Chairman from 1995-1997. From his early days on the barricades, fighting to preserve important buildings, Donald’s sharp mind and pragmatic approach set the tone for the Conservancy’s practical approach to preservation. He was instrumental in creating our Endangered Buildings Fund and our Endangered Buildings Initiative, which identifies buildings at risk. His contributions to the Conservancy and to the architectural heritage of New York are truly worth celebrating.
