LPC Budget Increase

Thanks to the efforts of Landmarks Subcommittee Chair Jessica Lappin and other Council supporters—and a concerted campaign by the Conservancy and other preservation groups—the city council put an extra $300,000 for the Landmarks Preservation Commission in the newly adopted city budget.

This is the second year in a row that Council Members and preservation groups have added money to the LPC budget.

A $250,000 council increase for LPC last year allowed the commission to hire five research staffers to document additional buildings and areas for possible designation.

We are grateful to the Council Members who supported the LPC budget initiative.

Thanks to Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer for supporting the LPC budget initiative as well.
