Financial & Technical Assistance

New York City is fortunate to have so many historic homes -- and the financial and technical assistance to help preserve them.

Ebenezer Gospel Tabernacle is one of many religious properties helped in Upper Manhattan.

The Federal Archive Building was transformed into rental apartments in the 1980s, thanks to the Conservancy.

The Conservancy's combination of financial assistance and technical expertise distinguishes us from other, similar groups. After three decades, we are proud to see the difference our work has made in the City.

The Historic Properties Fund is one of the nation's largest revolving loan funds used exclusively for historic preservation. The Fund's loans are available to owners of historic residential, commercial, religious, and nonprofit buildings.

The Sacred Sites Program -- one of the first programs in the country to assist landmark religious properties -- provides loans, grants and technical assistance to churches, synagogues, mosques, and meetinghouses. In addition, the Program publishes Common Bond, a technical journal sent to more than 6,000 subscribers.

The Technical Services Center provides expert architectural and preservation advice to property owners, developers, and contractors. Every year, the Center answers hundreds of calls and makes dozens of site visits.

Since 1986, the City Ventures Fund has provided grants and loans to nonprofit developers of affordable housing in non-landmark, architecturally significant buildings.

The Conservancy's Special Projects address new and ongoing preservation needs.
